In October 1945, Thomas and Edward Timothy started oyster farming in the Ladysmith Harbour with their first oyster lease. It definitely wasn’t an easy life as oyster farming operations in the harbour came and went. We are now down to the last two original operations in the harbour and we are the last one that is still 100% family-owned and operated.
Now, three generations later, Timothy Oyster Co. Ltd. is still a solid fixture in Ladysmith Harbour and we are now expanding by opening a seafood store.
Glenn Irvine has been managing Timothy Oyster Co. Ltd. for many years, taking over its daily operations from his parents who had operated it before him. It’s definitely a lifestyle, but one that allows family to work together.
